Like the major keys in music, the minor key also has it's own set of music scales. The chart below reveals 3 minor key music scales that are used in the key E Minor.
The E natural minor scale is the relative to the G major scale, thats because they share the same key signatures. Both scales have 1 sharp note that is the same. Even though they share the same key signatures, there tonic is different and they sound totally unique from each other.
The harmonic minor scale as you can see in the music scale chart, has the 7th note in the scale sharpened. The melodic minor scale has the 6th & 7th notes in the scale sharpened. This gives the E minor scale a couple of unique sound changes that can be used to flavor a musical piece. (so to speak)
