Like the major keys in music, the minor key also has it's own set of music scales. The chart below reveals 3 minor key music scales that are used in the key D Minor.
The harmonic minor scale as you can see in the music scale chart, has the 7th note in the scale sharpened. The melodic minor scale has the 6th & 7th notes in the scale sharpened. This gives the D minor scale a couple of unique sound changes that can be used to flavor a musical piece. (so to speak)
