Hello, my name is Mark and I want to welcome you all to Musicmarks!
I'm a musician and when playing in a band I play the rhythm guitar. I've been playing guitar now for quite awhile and I always enjoyed creating my own musical pieces. I found that knowing
the Keys of music, the different scales in the keys & the chords used within a particular key, was the biggest help for me in creating music, and jamin with other musicians as well!
Knowing that I am not alone in this passion for music, I decided to build a website pertaining to music theory, that presents the 24 musical keys. My first intensions were to make this site into a quick musicians reference, where a musician can stop by and find what notes are in a certain musical scale or chord, or what are the main chords in a certain key or what position does a particular chord hold in a certain key. But then I thought, that wouldn't be of much use to the person just starting out. So I decided to create this website for musicians of all skill levels, and took it a step further.
Besides the reference this site has to offer on the 24 musical keys, I added on a section that shows you how the different Scales and Chords in music are constructed by the use of Interval steps. Explains what an interval step is and how to use them for finding the notes for a givin scale or chord.
The newest section on this site is called " Beginners Guitar Corner ". This section is dedicated to the beginning guitarist. For the person who picked up the guitar for the 1st time with the intensions on learning how to play it. To be totally honest I had second thoughts about moving in this direction with the website. I'm not what you'd call the professional teacher type.
But I do have alot of knowledge and experience on the guitar that I can pass on to the beginning guitarist, in hopes that it helps his or her learning experience a little easier. I was basically self taught on the guitar, and the desire I had for playing it motivated me to learning all about the musical keys. Which in turn advanced my playing skills that much faster.
I try to encourage people who want to learn how to play guitar, to learn the musical keys as well, for this will give you a foundation in music to work with. Knowing what chords blend well together and what notes are in the different scales, you will find yourself progressing much faster on the guitar and sounding better as well!
In the mean time, I hope you find what your looking for, Thank you for stopping by, and I wish you the best with your music direction!
